I have learned so much during Creating Significant Environments. It is so important for educators to be able to create a space for learners where they feel empowered to learn. Learners deserve a learning environment that promotes learning. They should feel seen, heard, safe, and engaged. Learning how to learn is important and understanding that everyone learns differently is key to the success of any educator. I have an appreciation for being taught how to create significant learning environments because they can happen anywhere. My innovation plan to create an online wellness blended learning initiative for the community is different because it wouldn’t take place in a classroom. It would take place online. It was important that I learned how to make the online modules feel like a significant learning environment for learners wherever they may be.
I love that we were able to revise our growth mindset plan from earlier in the program because it is my belief that a growth mindset is always in progress. Throughout this program, my growth mindset has grown so much and it is really important that learners have a growth mindset when it comes to issues they may be experiencing with their health. The power of yet is really special because I believe that it gives learners hope. It helps them not to see their shortcomings as final, but as room to grow and improve. It motivates learners to put forth more effort than they had initially, I love that it praises progress.
During this class, I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who have wonderful innovations. Through discussion posts and our group chat, I have found inspiration and motivation. I am in a “group me chat” with Benjamin Branco, Tristan Dixon, Fred Williams, and Jacob Montag. In this chat, we discussed assignments andand some of the discussions. In the class discussion posts, I had the opportunity to work with more of my classmates and hear their opinions, get feedback, and get motivation. On the discussion posts, I worked with Selina Summers, Lorena Rodriguez, Erika Montroy,Tristan Dixon, Benjamin Branco, Elda Aguilar-Mancha, and Pedro Carrizales. I am grateful for their feedback and for them sharing their perspectives. They helped me to open my eyes to things I had never thought of before and I am truly grateful for them sharing in my learning.
I am also thankful to have learned about the different templates like the UbD Design template and the three column table. I also appreciate that this course allowed me to dig deeper to figure out how I am preparing my students for learning. I agree with the belief that learners need to have their imagination sparked to learn. Learners should be inspired to learn from the content that is presented to them. They should leave the learning session having questions that they want answered because they were engaged and inspired. Creating significant learning environments (5313) has inspired me to take a long look at the learning environment that I am creating for my learners and as an educator all together.
It has been a pleasure and a joy to collaborate with my classmates through discussion posts and through our group chat. I would give myself a 98 for all the collaboration, reading, and assignments. Thank you for an awesome class! I have learned a lot that I will take with me moving forward. You modeled how to create a significant leaning environment and I appreciate your help to be a better educator than before.
