WHAT'S YOUR WHY?

Let's explore the why, what & how.

Why

The purpose

We believe that making mental, physical, and social health education accessible to everyone in the community will be the catalyst for a healthier school district and decrease the number of preventable diseases.

How

The Process

To increase wellness, health specialists will create health assessments, resources, and health modules catered to the three different components of health within an online blended learning wellness initiative.

What

The Result

This online blended wellness initiative gives learners the tools to balance their health, achieve overall wellness, and cultivate healthier lifestyles.

For the first time, in a long time, we are living through a pandemic that has changed the way we live everyday life. The way that we approach our health is vital to us surviving this new normal. The pandemic has affected many people’s mental, physical, and social health. Knowing this, we know that there are a lot of students, faculty, and staff with health needs that are not being met. When a student’s physical, mental, and social health needs aren’t met, it can affect their behavior in the classroom, their attendance, and their grades. When faculty and staff needs aren’t met, it affects morale and attendance. Returning to a somewhat normal life involves equipping students, staff, and the community with the skills to cope with challenges to different parts of their health through giving them access to resources and guidance that will help them to make valuable lifestyle changes.

The “why” can be used to speak to the heart because health is something to be taken seriously. Now, more than ever, we understand that not dealing with health issues can lead to serious complications, even death.

A sense of urgency is created because issues with mental, physical, and social health can have very traumatic effects on everyone involved. Access to resources could save so many lives and help so many people in every community to cope with serious health issues.

Complacency is lowered because we are living in a time period where we are experiencing a pandemic that came out of nowhere. Covid-19 took everyone by surprise and we weren’t prepared for how bad it could be. Besides that, Covid-19 has affected a lot of people mentally and has forced people to make their mental health a priority without being fully aware of how to make that happen. In the “what”, we understand that cultivating a healthy lifestyle is important and we need to figure out how to make that happen.
